The Taíno are the indigenous people of the Caribbean. Due to colonial violence, the Taíno population is scarce. This hand drawn typeface draws inspiration from their petroglyphs and is named after them, keeping their spirit alive in every letter.
By translating ancient visual language into contemporary typography, this design creates a bridge between past and present, honouring a culture whose influence still shapes the Caribbean today.

Taíno typeface engraved on the Taíno's preferred medium — a rock.
Displayed at Atelier Nextdoor's 2026 open typeface exhibition.
